Ross Smith wins World Series of Darts Finals 2026: Dominant 11-5 victory over Gerwyn Price

Ross Smith became the World Series of Darts Finals champion on Sunday night with a dominant victory over Gerwyn Price. Smudger beat The Iceman 11-5 in Amsterdam, delivering a superb performance to pull away near the end. He won the last six legs and hit 11 maximums to claim his first PDC major title since the 2026 European Championship. Smith earned £100,000; Price received £60,000. The final was tense early as Price pressed hard. Smith remained composed, sharpened his doubles, and closed the match strongly. His 11 maximums underlined his attacking firepower, while the decisive run of six legs showed mental toughness. Smith was delighted: “It feels a bit mad, to be fair! I am absolutely made up with the win. I am so happy. Price is one of the best in the world, so to beat him you have to up your game.” He added that he takes each game as it comes and treats every match as a final. Price, by contrast, was unusually relaxed. He said: “I am playing some good darts, I am earning some good money. If I never win a major again, I really don't care as long as I am doing well. I am gutted I've lost, but I have a good family and I have invested all my money.” He admitted he was “absolute rubbish” in the final but credited Smith for being brilliant and taking his chances. Luke Littler's attempt to win all ten televised majors in one calendar year ended when Jonny Clayton beat him 10-4 at the quarter-final stage. The teenager, who had complained about Dutch fans' behaviour, said he sees no point in travelling if he is going to be booed. He took home £17,500. Luke Humphries earned £10,000 after a second-round loss to Dirk van Duijvenbode. Michael van Gerwen, the defending champion and local hero, took only £5,000 after losing in the first round to Daryl Gurney. Attention now turns to the World Grand Prix at Leicester, which begins on September 28. Smith will look to prove his Amsterdam title was not a one-off, while Littler, Van Gerwen and Humphries will be eager to bounce back.
